Its not the pale moon that excites me That thrills and delights me, oh no Its just the nearness of you It isn't your sweet conversation That brings this sensation, oh no Its just the nearness of you When you're in my arms and I feel you so close to me All my wildest dreams come true I need no soft lights to enchant me If you'll only grant me the right To hold you ever so tight And to feel in the night the nearness of you

Hush now, dont explain Just say, you'll remain I'm glad you're back Don't explain Quiet, don't explain You mix with some name Skip that lipstick Don't explain You know that I love you And what love endures Nothing rates above you When I'm so completely yours Cry to hear folks chatter And I know you cheat Right and wrong, don't matter When you're with me, sweet Hush now, don't explain You're my joy and pain My life's yours, love Don't explain

Alice in Wonderland How do you get to Wonderland Over the hill or underland Or just behind the tree When clouds go rolling by They roll away and leave the sky Where is the land beyond the eye That people cannot see Where can it be Where do the stars go Where is the crescent moon They must be somewhere in the sunny afternoon Alice in Wonderland Where is the path to Wonderland Over the hill or here or there I wonder where

Inside a silent tear, I have a silent dream That sometimes sails across, the patterns of my mind For silence follows me, and dreams just disappear And then I find myself, inside a silent tear. I’m always finding love, when it’s not meant to be Wheat is reality, and can it be defined? When you’re a fool like me, it’s never really clear So you have silent dreams, Inside a silent tear Sometimes I laugh too much, to hide the emptiness; To lose the loneliness, I’m not the laughing kind I can’t say anything, I really want to say Sometimes I try so hard, I stumble on the way I’m always finding love, when it’s not meant to be Wheat is reality, and can it be defined? When you’re a fool like me, it’s never really clear So you have silent dreams, Inside a silent tear

The very thought of you and I forget to do The little ordinary things that everyone ought to do I'm living in a kind of daydream I'm happy as a king And foolish though it may seem To me that's everything The mere idea of you, the longing here for you You'll never know how slow the moments go till I'm near to you I see your face in every flower Your eyes in stars above It's just the thought of you The very thought of you, my love

It is only a paper moon Sailing over a cardboard sea But it wouldn't be make believe If you believed in me Yes, it's only a canvas sky Hangin' over a muslin tree But it wouldn't be make believe If you believed in me Without your love It's a honky tonk parade Without your love It's a melody played in a penny arcade It's a Barnum and Bailey world Just as phony as it can be But it wouldn't be make believe If you believed in me

Everytime we say goodbye I die a little Everytime we say goodbye I wonder why a little Why the gods above me who must be in the know Think so little of me They allow you to go And when you're near There's such an air of spring about it I can hear a lark somewhere begin to sing about it There's no love song finer But how strange the change from major to minor Everytime we say goodbye Everytime we say goodbye I die a little Everytime we say goodbye I wonder why a little Why the gods above me who must be in the know Think so little of me They allow you to go When you're near There's such an air of spring about it I can hear a lark somewhere begin to sing about it There's no love song finer But how strange the change from major to minor Everytime we say goodbye

You had plenty money 1922 You let other women make a fool of you Why don't you do right like some other men do? Get out of here and get me some money too You're sitting down, wondering what it's all about If you ain't got no money, they will put you out Why don't you do right like some other men do? Get out of here and get me some money too If you had prepared twenty years ago You wouldn't be wanderin' now from door to door Why don't you do right, like some other men do? Get out of here and get me some money too I fell for your jivin' and I took you in Now all you got to offer me's a drink of gin Why don't you do right like some other men do? Get out of here and get me some money too Why don't you do right, like some other men do? Like some other men do

Tall and tan and young and lovely The girl from Ipanema goes walking And when she passes, each one she passes goes - ah When she walks, she's like a samba That swings so cool and sways so gentle That when she passes, each one she passes goes - ooh (Ooh) But I watch her so sadly How can I tell her I love her Yes I would give my heart gladly But each day, when she walks to the sea She looks straight ahead, not at me Tall, and tan, and young, and lovely The girl from Ipanema goes walking And when she passes, I smile - but she doesn't see (doesn't see)

about

“The mood is intimate as her duo accompaniment…Lindsley’s simple delivery is delicate and unaffected.” John Ephland- Downbeat, March issue (3 stars)

“… a Bay Area singer who we need to keep an eye on – and ears wide open for years to come…”Ken Franckling – Jazz Times

“One way to separate jazz singing wheat from chaff is the presence of elegant simplicity…Lindsley’s debut, Every Time We Say Goodbye, has in copious amounts…” All About Jazz – C. Michael Bailey

Without any rehearsal or even knowing what songs we would record, we trekked into Whip Records dragging the amazing acoustic bass player Fred Randolf along with us. The two days that followed were spent creating pure passion.

Most of the songs were recorded in one or two takes with very little mixing done, a true Jazz Album. It is indeed pure passion, and bliss transporting you to a place of simple pleasures.

Rated as one of the top 10 vocalists of 2011 in Jazz Station – Arnaldo DeSouteiro’s Blog: The Best Jazz of 2011 Also one of the top 10 best albums and George Mesterhazy as one of the top 10 pianists.
